Lama Aktivasi Secara Fisika Terhadap Karakteristik Arang Aktif Tunggul Batang Kelapa
This study aims to obtain the best long physical activation for the characteristics of activated charcoal made from coconut stumps. This study was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The treatment in this study used a long activation 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 hours. Observations were made on the yield, moisture content, ash content, volatile matter content, pure carbon content and iodine absorption. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using statistical software IBM SPSS version 23 with an analysis of variance (ANOVA) test, if Fcount ≥ Ftable then the treatment has a significant effect and the analysis will be continued with the further test of Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT) at level 5%. The results showed that increasing the activation time used had a significant effect on the resulting activated charcoal. Activated charcoal with the best treatment was found in the A5 treatment (6 hours) with a yield of 74.25%, moisture content 5.24%, ash content 4.35%, volatile matter content 13.89%, pure carbon content 76.52% and absorption of iodine of 850,23 mg/g.
