Unsur Alam Dalam Peribahasa Melayu Analisis Semantik Inkuisitif
(Peribahasa) is one of the figurative languages passed down through generations to guide life. Thus, people can derive many valuable lessons from these proverbs. The Malay proverbs contain elements of nature such as water, fire, earth, and air. However, the teaching of Malay proverbs in schools has not been able to maintain the existence of Malay proverbs among the younger generation. This study aims to interpret the natural elements in Malay proverbs based on inquisitive semantic study. The primary data source used in this research is the Malay Correspondence Reference Center of the Institute of Language and Literature. The data was then classified and analyzed using script semantic analysis, cognitive semantic analysis, and inquisitive semantic analysis. Specifically, this research found that there are 8 proverbs containing water elements, 4 proverbs containing fire elements, 5 proverbs containing earth elements, and 3 proverbs containing wind elements. The study discovered the fact that the Malay community is indeed very close to nature, as evidenced by the abundance of natural elements found in Malay proverbs. These proverbs offer many things to be learned, such as culture, history, and the mindset of the Malay community itself.
