Kebiasaan Makanan (Food Habits) Ikan Sengarat (Belodontichthys Dinema) Di Sungai Kampar Kiri Hulu, Desa Buluh Nipis, Kecamatan Siak Hulu Provinsi Riau
The Kampar Kiri Hulu River has various types of biota that live in it, one of which is the
stingfish. The presence of Sengarat fish in nature, especially in these rivers, continues to decline
due to excessive fishing and using fishing gear that is not environmentally friendly. Apart from
that, activities around the river become polluted and cause the availability of natural food in the
water to change and result in the balance of the ecosystem in the water being disturbed. The aim
of this research is to determine the food habits of stingfish (B. dinema) in the Kampar Kiri River
Hulu, Buluh Nipis Village. This research was carried out in July - August 2023. Sampling used
the census method with varying fish sizes. The fish catch obtained was 31 fish, including 23
male fish and 8 female fish. The types of food found in fish stomachs are a combination of fish
(small fish, scales and fish pieces), insects and litter. With a total IP value for fish combined,
namely 85,52%, insects worth 4,99%, and litter worth 9,49%. Meanwhile, for the IP value based
on gender, the IP value of male stingray fish in the fish combination was 84,07%, insects 5,21%,
and litter 10,72%. In female stingfish, the IP value for the combined fish was 89,64%, insects
4,39%, and litter 5,97%. With the results obtained during the research, it can be concluded that
the stingfish (B. dinema) is a carnivorous fish whose main food is fish.
