Kerusakan Mangrove Yang Terdampak Abrasi Di Pantai Desa Buruk Bakul, Kecamatan Bukit Batu,Kabupaten Bengkalis
Coastal abrasion at a high rate in the Bengkalis Regency area, Riau Province, is increasingly causing damage, including damage to mangrove vegetation found on the coast of Buruk Bakul Village. This study aims to analyze mangrove damage on the coast of this village. The method used was purposive Sampling by selecting a 100 m long beach segment and making four transects (100 m x 10 m), consisting of 10 plots measuring 10 m x 10 m, with parallel positions to each other forming four observation zones from sea to land (zones 1, 2, 3, and 4). The results of the observation revealed that the condition of the mangroves in the study site was categorized as degraded as indicated by the presence of land retreat due to abrasion and low tree density (average of only 2 trees/plot) in zone 1, with three tree species only.. Zone 2, also severely damaged, had a slightly higher tree density (3,9 trees/plot), but with a greater variety of tree species, comprising seven species. Zone 3 had the highest tree density (average 10,7 trees/plot), with seven tree species, while zone 4 had the lowest tree density (average 7 trees/plot), with four species. The number of fallen or dead trees in zones 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 12 trees/plot, 9 trees/plot, 21 trees/plot, and 11 trees/plot, respectively. Based on the existing conditions at the time of the study, it is estimated that trees in zone 1 will be uprooted and lost within the next three months, while trees in zone 2 will experience the same thing in the next six to nine months, and so on.
Key findings: Number of tree species, tree density, tree species composition, damage zonation
