Pengaruh Abrasi Terhadap Kerusakan Mangrove Di Pantai Desa Bukit Batu, Kabupaten Bengkalis, Provinsi Riau
In Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province, many beaches have been damaged by abrasion over the last few decades. This abrasion has also resulted in severe mangrove damage, one example of which is found on the coast of Bukit Batu Village. The purpose of this study was to analyze the condition of mangroves found in one segment of the village beach. Observations were made using four 100 m x 10 m transects, consisting of 10 10 m x 10 m plots. These transects were positioned parallel to each other, forming four observation zones from sea to land (zones 1, 2, 3 and 4). There were 5 mangrove species found in this study site. The results showed that zone 1 had the lowest tree density (average 2.7 trees/plot), while the highest was found in zone 2 (average 8.2 trees/plot). In zone 1 four species were found, in zone 2 five species were found, in zone 3 four species were found and in zone 4 three species were found. Abrasion causes trees to fall, die and be washed away. The number of fallen or dead trees in zones 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 11 trees/plot, 27 trees/plot, 3 trees/plot, and 10 trees/plot. Looking at the existing damage at the time of the study, it is estimated that trees in zone 1 will be uprooted and lost within the next three months, while trees in zone 2 will experience the same thing in the next six to nine months, and so on.
Key findings: Number of fallen/dead/lost trees, tree density, tree species composition, damage zonation
