Siti Sofro Sidiq and Hesti Asriwandari. This research is motivated by society's stigma towards people with mental disorders. The stigma of mental disorders referred to in this paper is a social phenomenon regarding society's attitude towards individuals who experience mental disorders and show abnormalities in their behavior patterns, and are seen as having a deviant social identity, thus making society unable to fully accept them. As a result, people's attitudes tend to be discriminatory. One of the hospitals that provides mental care in Pekanbaru is the Lancang Kuning Hospital. Since management was taken over by Dompet Dhuafa in 2017, with majority share ownership of 35%, the hospital's programs related to the poor have been improved. Including services for people with mental disorders, most of whom are from economically weak communities, some of whom are neglected people. In Sociology, People with Mental Disorders are one category of People with Social Welfare Problems. Persons with Social Welfare Problems are individuals, families or community groups who, due to obstacles, difficulties or disturbances, are unable to carry out their social functions, so that their life needs (physical, spiritual and social) cannot be met adequately and fairly. The role of health workers in the care of people with mental disorders at Lancang Kuning Hospital. Namely carrying out socio-therapeutic treatment by providing emotional support (attention). The form of support that is routinely provided by health workers always controls the emotions of each patient so that they remain stable. Appreciative support. The form of appreciation support provided by health workers is positive appreciation and positive encouragement. Instrumental Support. The form of instrumental support provided by health workers is material support and service provision. Informative support. The form of informative support provided by health workers is providing advice and understanding. Apart from providing social support, health workers also carry out interpersonal communication, namely offline communication and virtual communication, and also carry out home visits.
The role of socio-therapy in the care of people with mental disorders at Lancang Kuning Hospitalto restore the social role of patients with mental disorders: Resocialization and to provide education to the families of patients with mental disorders, families and society so that they have a positive stigma towards people with mental disorders.
