Pengaruh Panjang Serat Pulp Eucalyptus Terhadap Sifat Fisik Kertas
Paper characteristics play an important role in the quality of the paper produced. Some factors that affect paper quality are tensile strength, tearing strength, bursting strength, and internal bonding. The purpose of this research is to study the effect of morphology and fiber length on the strength of the paper produced. This research uses a variety of fiber lengths, which is 0,5; 0,3; 0,1; and 0,075 mm. The first thing to do is to classify the fiber length and then make a handsheet of each fiber length. Then the handsheet is tested for tensile strength using a tensile tester, tearing strength test using a custom tear tool and tear tester, burst strength testing using a bursting strength tester and bonding test between fibers using an internal bonding tester. The 0,075 mm fiber length has the best strength (tensile, tearing, burst and internal bonding) compared to other fiber lengths. Curl fiber content affects the tearing strength of the paper. Fibrillation affects the internal bonding and burst strength values of paper. The internal bonding value has a correlation with the tensile strength value of paper.
Keywords: burst strength, curl fiber, fibrillation, internal bonding, tearing
