Toksisitas Ekstrak Etanol Daun Pelawan (Tristaniopsis Obovata Benn.) Terhadap Profil Hematologi Tikus Putih (Rattus Norvegicus L.)
Tristaniopsis obovata Benn. is one of the herbal plants that often used for the treatment of various diseases because it has secondary metabolite compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins and steroids/triterpenoin. Some compounds are known to have antioxidant activity that can affect hematological profiles. This study aims to determine the effect of toxicity of ethanol extract of T. obovata leaves on LD50 values, the erythrocytes morphology, and hematological profile in white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.). This study use a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 4 repeats. The treatment consisted of P0 (control), (P1) dose 300 mg/kg BW, P2 (dose 2000 mg/kg BW), and P3 (dose 5000 mg/kg BW). The calculation of LD50 values using AOT 425 StatPgm software and hematological profiles were analyzed with ANOVA. The results showed the LD50 values of T. obovata extract categorized as mild toxic. The morphology of erythrocytes P2 shows abnormalities in the form of anisocytosis (microcytosis, macrocytosis) and P3 shows abnormalities in the form of burr cell. The administration of extract not significant from the number of erythrocytes, leukocytes and hemoglobin levels of white rats.
Key findings :Erythrocytes, hemoglobin, LD50, leukocytes, Tristaniopsis.
