The low numeracy literacy abilities of students and the absence of a bank
of AKM type questions based on the Malay cultural context are the background of
this research, so the aim of this research is to produce AKM type questions based
on the Malay cultural context to measure the numeracy literacy abilities of Phase
D students in class algebra content. VIII semester I is valid, reliable, has a good
level of difficulty and differentiating power .
Research is included in the type of research and development . The
development research model used is the Tessmer development model which
consists of two stages, namely preliminary and formative evaluation. The
preliminary stage consists of 3 stages namely; preparation, analysis and design,
while the formative evaluation stage consists of 5 stages, namely; self evaluation ,
expert review , one-to-one , small group , and field test .
Activities carried out at the preliminary stage include preparation in the
form of determining research subjects, formulating problems, and solutions to
determined problems. The next activity carried out is analysis in the form of
student analysis, needs and material analysis. The next stage is designing
products including question grids, scoring guide rubrics, question cards,
validation sheets and student response questionnaires.
The next stage is the formal evaluation stage , the initial stage carried out
at this stage is self evaluation . At this stage, the product that has been designed is
reassessed by the researcher together with the supervisor, resulting in 30
questions in the form of a description called prototype I.
expert review stage was carried out by validating prototype I with 3
mathematics education lecturers. The validation results obtained are that the
average value of the material aspect is or is in the very valid
category, the average of the construction aspect is or is in the very
valid category, and the average of the language aspect is or is in the
very valid category. The one-to-one stage was carried out in parallel with the
expert review , namely by giving prototype I to 3 students who had different
abilities with the aim of obtaining suggestions and comments on the readability of
the questions. The revised results from the expert review and one-to-one stages
are called prototype II.
The next stage was small group , at this stage prototype II was tested on 6
students who had different abilities. Students were asked to work on prototype II
and fill out a student response questionnaire to provide comments and
suggestions regarding prototype II . The small group stage of testing resulted in
students giving positive responses to the questions tested with a percentage ,
although there were still some students who still made mistakes in designing
solutions to get the expected final results. Based on students' responses to AKM

type questions based on the Malay cultural context, students were enthusiastic
and interested in working on the questions presented in the Riau Malay cultural
context. Suggestions and comments from students at the small group stage were
taken into consideration to revise the prototype so as to produce a better
prototype called prototype III .
field test stage was carried out by conducting trials on 30 students, to
determine the value of validity, reliability, level of difficulty and differentiating
power of the test items. The results of data analysis were determined using the
IBM SPSS Statistics 26 application. The validity values obtained were 26 valid
questions and 4 invalid questions. The reliability results showed that 12 questions
from stage 1 had a reliability value , and 14 questions from stage 2 had a
reliability value of 0.834, so it was found that 26 questions had very high
reliability. The level of difficulty for each question item was found to be 22
questions in the medium category, and questions in the easy category. The
results of data processing for the differentiating power of the question items
showed that the question items were in the very good category, 19 question items
were in the good category, and the question items were in the quite good
category.
The next stage was to measure the students' numeracy literacy skills in
working on AKM type questions based on the Malay cultural context. It was found
that the numeracy literacy competency achievement index of students at SMPN 3
Siak Kecil at stage 1 was obtained with a value of 1.73 and at stage 2 the value
was 1.63. shows that the numeracy literacy skills of students at SMPN 3 Siak
Kecil have not yet reached the minimum level of completeness because students
who achieve proficient and proficient competency are less than .
This development research produces AKM type questions based on the Malay
cultural context to measure the numeracy literacy abilities of phase D students in
algebra content that are valid, reliable, and have a good level of difficulty and
differentiating power, and can be used as an instrument for measuring numeracy
literacy abilities
