Problem solving abilities are very important and must be developed in learning mathematics. However, in reality, students have not yet mastered this problem solving ability. There are still many students who are not optimal in solving problems. Researchers also found this low mathematical problem solving ability of students at SMP N 2 Sabak Auh. One of the main topics of mathematics studied in junior high school is probability. The low ability of students to solve mathematical problems reflects that there are still many students who do not understand the problems given. Based on interviews with teachers in the field of mathematics, the low ability to solve mathematical problems is influenced by several factors, namely students are too hasty in working on problems, students do not understand the problems, students are unable to make plans for solving mathematics problems, and students are less careful in making conclusions correctly. Correct.
The low ability of students to solve mathematical problems reflects that there are still many students who do not understand the problems given. There needs to be a solution to help students understand the stages of problem solving, so as to improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The heuristic approach is an approach that can be used to direct students to discover mathematical concepts for themselves from a number of facts presented. Regarding the impact of heuristics in problem solving, several research results show that heuristics are effectively used in problem solving.
Efforts that can be made to achieve this problem-solving ability are by paying attention to the learning process carried out in class. Based on the results of the initial study, it was found that learning resources in the form of teaching materials used by students in learning did not contain the stages of mathematical problem solving indicators. The teaching materials used in schools generally only contain knowledge competencies and do not contain indicators for solving students' mathematical problems that appear in learning materials at school. The teaching materials used in the mathematics learning process are still focused on achieving knowledge competency, while mathematical problem solving abilities are still in the not yet included category. So that students have mathematical problem solving abilities in the mathematics learning process, one effort that can be made is to prepare modules that are in accordance with the stages of a heuristic approach to improve mathematical problem solving abilities.
The assessment of the feasibility of the module based on a heuristic approach in opportunity material for class VIII SMP in accordance with the validation results of media experts obtained an average percentage of all aspects of 81.31% which fell within the very valid criteria. Based on students' assessments of the module during field trials, the average percentage of overall indicators was 82.17%, which falls within the practical criteria and is suitable for use in learning. In accordance with the pretest and posttest value data and analyzed using the one sample Kolmogorov Isirmonov test with a significance level of 0.05. So at a value of 0.200

> 0.05 it can be concluded that the data is normally distributed. After the data is normally distributed, the next Homogeneity Test is carried out. The results of the Homogeneity Test show that the significance value is 0.48. Because the value obtained from the homogeneity test has a significance level of > 0.05, the data has the same variance value (homogeneous) or is not different. Next, data analysis will be carried out using the Independent Sample T-test. Based on a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000. This value is smaller than 0.05 so H_0 is rejected, then H1 is accepted, stating that there is a difference in test results before and after using the module. Based on the T Test results table, the average pre-test score was 53.75 and the average post-test score was 84.30, resulting in an increase of 30.55, which means there was a significant increase in students' mathematical problem solving ability scores. after using a module based on a heuristic approach.
Based on the learning carried out by the researchers, the product developed, namely a module based on a heuristic approach to opportunity material for class VIII SMP, succeeded in fulfilling its aim of improving students' mathematical problem solving abilities. This can be seen from the results of the post-test scores that have been carried out showing that there is a significant increase in students' mathematical problem solving abilities. Learning using a heuristic approach-based module is able to train students' abilities in understanding problems, planning problem solving, implementing problem solving plans, and re-examining problems that have already been solved. It can be interpreted that learning using this heuristic approach-based module has met the criteria for validity, practicality and effectiveness in improving students' mathematical problem solving abilities.
