Keputusan Migrasi Etnis Batak Toba Ke Desa Kulim Jaya Indragiri Hulu Riau

The migration carried out by the Toba Batak ethnic group from their area of origin to Kulim Jaya Village certainly has certain reasons for each individual. Like humans in essence, the residents of Kulim Jaya Village who come from the Batak ethnic group, especially the Toba Batak ethnic group, certainly have the ability to think, judge and make decisions regarding all their actions. On the other hand, the act of migration also produces consequences, where each actor must make post-migration adaptations. The research aims to analyze the rationality of decisions, the influence of social structure, and the adaptation of the Toba Batak ethnic group migrating to Kulim Jaya Village. This research method uses descriptive qualitative, with research subjects of Toba Batak ethnicity who live in Kulim Jaya Indragiri Hulu Village using purposive sampling. The research results found that the Toba Batak ethnic group who made the decision to migrate to Kulim Jaya Village used both rational actions to achieve the goals of the Toba Batak ethnic group, although there was always one of them who dominated the decision-making process to migrate. The patterns of rational action that occur complement each other in the cognitive processes of the Toba Batak ethnic group. The rationality of the Toba Batak ethnic's decision to migrate to Kulim Jaya Village is always related to the family network in the destination area. This is a characteristic of the Toba Batak ethnic group in Kulim Jaya Village, which maximizes its goals by utilizing family relationships that are tied into the Toba Batak social structure. Apart from helping and inspiring migration movements from their area of origin, this family network also plays an active role in the life of the Toba Batak ethnic group after migration in Kulim Jaya Village, regarding adaptation. Every adaptation process, be it social adaptation or economic adaptation, the presence of migration networks helps the Toba Batak ethnic group to face every obstacle and obstacle, so that they can survive and even reside permanently in Kulim Jaya Village.
