ABSTRACT
Social norms are also reflected in the trust built between sellers and buyers. Sellers who have a good reputation, especially in terms of the quality of goods and honesty in describing the condition of the goods, can build trust among their consumers. This research aims to understand the trust, networks, and norms established by online thrifting traders in the Marpoyan Damai District of Pekanbaru City. This type of research utilizes a qualitative approach. The subjects of the research are online thrifting entrepreneurs around Marpoyan Damai, Pekanbaru. The results of this research reveal that the trust built by online thrifting traders in the Marpoyan Damai District is a key element in building solid relationships within the online thrifting community, which is built through consistent interaction, transparency in the sales process, and responsive and friendly customer service. The networks built by online thrifting traders in the Marpoyan Damai District form the foundation of the online thrifting community. Customers and traders form interconnected networks through online platforms such as social media and e-commerce applications. Social norms built by online thrifting traders in the Marpoyan Damai District also play an important role in strengthening the network of the online thrifting community. These include norms regarding shopping etiquette, such as respecting time and commitments in the transaction process, as well as norms regarding sharing honest information and providing constructive feedback.
