ABSTRACT
Digital parenting needs to be done to supervise dan control the use of smartphones in children so that children can avoid the bad influences that will be caused. This study aims to determine how the supervision and application of parental control are carried out by mothers in preschool children in the use of smartphones. The type of research used in this study is descriptive qualitative, the subject in this study is a mother who also works as a lecturer and has children aged 3-6 years. The results showed that mothers actively supervise the use of smartphones, namely mothers are directly involved in providing supervision in the form of assistance to children when accessing smartphones, mothers also divert children's attention so that they are not too dependent on smartphones by buying children toys, and inviting children to play outside the home. Mothers also apply parental controls by, applying screen time to the YouTube Kids application, filtering content that is appropriate for the child's age and blocking content that is considered inappropriate for the child, monitoring the child's watch history, locking and hiding applications that are not allowed to be accessed by the child.
