The role of butterfly pollinator can maintain ecosystem balance and maintain biodiversity.Butterfly pollinators inadvertently encourage the process of pollination when they land on flower, this process help the natural reproduction plant and enriches the level of diversity. This study aims to determine thetypes of butterflies (Subordo: Rhopalocera) and types of food plants in the protected forest area of Panai Tengah District, Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatera.This research was conducted inDecember 2023-April 2023.This research used a roaming method (Road sampling) using insect net a fishing tool and trap method (Rydon trap) using bait in the form of fruit.The identification process assisted by matching images on special insect website https://bugguide.net. The results of this research were 196 individual butterfly consisting of 36 species and belonging to 5 famili namely Hesperiidae, Lyncaenidae, Nymphalidae, Papilionidae, dan Pieriidae as well several butterfly food plants in the Panai Tengah District, Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatera namely Crassocephalum crepidioides, Asystasia gangetica, Ageratum conyzoides, Melastoma malabathricum, Cleome viscosa.
