Aplikasi Teknologi Biopot Sebagai Media Tumbuh Pada Tanaman Gamal (Grilicidia Sepium)
Grilicidia sepium are known to have many advantages so plant propagation is needed. Grilicidia sepium are usually grown using top soil media and polybags as containers. The use of polybags is considered not environmentally friendly because it can become a pile of garbage and damage the roots. The purpose of the study was to determine the ability to use biopot technology and the right micture composition in biopot making materials on Grilicidia sepium growth. This study consisted of 5 treatments and 4 replications resulting in 20 experimental units. The treatments carried out include: P0 = 50% soil + 50% compost, P1 = 30% compost + 30% cocopeat + 30% husk charcoal + 10% adhesive, P2 = 40% compost + 25% cocopeat + 25% husk charcoal + 10% adhesive, P3 = 50% compost + 20% cocopeat + 20% husk charcoal + 10% adhesive, P4 = 60% compost + 15% cocopeat + 15% husk charcoal + 10% adhesive. The observation parameters were the percentage of survival, height and diameter increase, sedling sturdiness, plant dry weight, shoot-root ratio, seedling quality index and physical characteristics of biopots. The results showed that the application of biopot technology as a growing medium had a significant effect on the growth performance of Grilicidia sepium. The composition of biopot treatment P1 (30% compost + 30% cocopeat + 30% husk charcoal + 10% adhesive) showed the best results on Grilicidia sepium growth with the results of 100% survival percentage, 17,08 cm height, 3,299 mm diameter, seedling sturdiness 5,11, dry weight 23,16 gr, shoot-ratio 3,27, seedling quality index 2,61 and 100% intact biopot physical characteristics.
