This research aims to produce high-quality STEM-based HOTS questions on Environmental Change material for class X SMA so that they are useful for improving students' critical thinking skills. This research was carried out in two places, namely the Biology Education Campus, FKIP, Riau University and SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru. This research was carried out from August to November 2023. The type of research tested was R & D / Research and Development with the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model developed by Dick and Carry. However, this research only reached the development stage. The data collection instrument used was a validation sheet which covered criteria from three aspects, namely the design aspect, the STEM approach aspect, and the cognitive ability aspect of the questions given by the validator and the question instrument in the form of STEM-based HOTS questions in the form of multiple choice as many as 30 questions in the subject. environmental changes to determine the critical thinking abilities of class X high school students. The types of data used in this research are quantitative data and qualitative data.
