Forest and land fires in Indragiri Hilir are one of the largest contributors to land fire cases in Riau Province. The aim of the research is to determine community behavior in managing peatlands related to forest and peatland fires in Karya Tani Village, Kempas District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. This research uses observation and interview techniques with informants (Snowball sampling) to collect primary data. Documentation studies were obtained by studying several books, journals, articles and reports from related agencies. Data analysis uses qualitative descriptive analysis methods which include data reduction, data modeling and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that community behavior in land management related to forest and peatland fires in Karya Tani Village, Kempas District, Indragiri Hilir Regency is draining peatlands with canals/drenches and clearing land for agricultural and plantation businesses. Apart from that, there are community activities that trigger fires, namely: fishing activities, burning rubbish and throwing away cigarette butts.
