Survei Tokek Di Kecamatan Tuah Madani, Pekanbaru, Riau
Riau Province, especially Pekanbaru City, information about the existence of gecko species is still limited. Until now, only Gekko monarchus has been reported to be found in West Sidomulyo Village, Tuah Madani District, Pekanbaru City. This study aims to inventory gecko species and gecko discovery locations in Tuah Madani District, Pekanbaru, Riau; and determining the public's perception of geckos. The methods used are: interviews and observations. Data analysis was carried out by selecting questionnaire data from interviews, while observation data was obtained from the results of direct search or observation of geckos. The geckos found are identified and arranged based on the species and the number of individuals, then the proportion (%) of each gecko species is calculated according to the number of individuals and the place where they were found. Based on the results of the interview, three species of geckos were found, namely: G. monarchus, Gekko gecko, and Eublepharis macularius. Meanwhile, geckos were found in only two species, namely: G. monarchus and G. smithii. Thus, four species of geckos were obtained in Tuah Madani District, namely: G. monarchus and G. smithii are geckos found in nature, while G. gecko and E. macularius are pet species. The public's perception of geckos is relatively good and does not threaten the existence of geckos in the future.
