Kualitas Perairan Berdasarkan Kelimpahan Fitoplankton Pada Ekosistem Mangrove Desa Sungai Piring Kecamatan Batang Tuaka Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir Provinsi Riau
Phytoplankton are microscopic organisms that live floating in the water and act as the main producers in the food chain system including in mangrove ecosytems. This study aims to determine the quality of water based on the abundance of phytoplankton in the mangrove ecosystem of Sungai Piring Village, Batang Tuaka District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. This research was conducted in February-March 2023 using the survei method. Water quality parameters measured were: temperature, current speed, brightness, salinity, pH, DO, free CO2, nitrate and phosphorus. Sampling was done three times, with an interval of 10 days. The results shown that there were 18 species of phytoplankton included in 4 classes namely Bacillariophyceae (8 species), Cholorophyceae (6 species), Cyanophyceae (3 species), and Euglenophyce (1 species). Phytoplankton abundance during te study ranged from 20849-28687 cells/L. Water quality parameters were as follows: temperature 28-30 0C, current velocity 0.26-0.39 m/s, transparency 48-56 cm, salinity 13-18 0/00, DO 3.93-4.20 mg/L, free CO2 11.88-16.6 mg/L, nitrate 0.053-0.082 mg/L, phosphate 0.059-0.070 mg/L. Based on phytoplankton abundance, the Piring River can be concluded as the mesotrophic
waters.
