Perubahan Makna Dalam Berita Terkini Di Liputan6.Com

Changes in meaning are related to the writing used by journalists when writing news. In writing news, changes in meaning affect the variety of language used by journalists, namely the existence of new vocabulary and the adjustment of words to their context. This study was conducted to explain the relationship between changes in meaning and current news on Liputan6.com. The purpose of this study is to describe the types and factors that influence meaning changes in the latest news on Liputan6.com. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The source of data used is the latest news on Liputan6.com from June to July 2023. The results of the study obtained five types of meaning changes, the dominant of which is the change in meaning of expanding, while the non-dominant type of meaning change is the narrowing meaning. The five meaning changes, namely (1) expanded meaning, (2) narrowed meaning, (3) euphemia meaning, (4) coarsening meaning (dysphemia), and (5) total change meaning. Furthermore, the research also found eight factors of meaning change, the dominant of which is term development, while the non-dominant factor of meaning change is abbreviation. Factors that influence the occurrence of meaning change are (1) developments in science and technology, (2) social and cultural developments, (3) differences in the field of use, (4) associations, (5) exchange of sensory responses, (6) differences in responses, (7) abbreviations, (8) grammatical processes, and (9) term development.
