This research aims to describe forms of compliance and violations of politeness in the language of the Mentayan Village community. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. This research data is the speech used by the people of Mentayan Village when communicating. Data collection was carried out for two months, namely December 2023 to January 2024. The data collection method in this research was through the observation method using the expert listening and involvement technique. The results of the research found compliance and violations of language politeness in the Mentayan Village community. The forms of compliance with language politeness found in this research are the maxim of generosity, the maxim of wisdom, the maxim of praise, the maxim of humility, the maxim of agreement, and the maxim of sympathy. The forms of politeness violations found in this research were the maxim of generosity, the maxim of praise, the maxim of humility, and the maxim of agreement, while there were two maxims that were not found, namely the maxim of wisdom and the maxim of sympathy. Compliance with language politeness is more dominant than violations of language politeness maxims.
