PRARANCANGAN PABRIK ASAM BENZOAT PROSES OKSIDASI DENGAN DESAIN ALAT UTAMA REAKTOR OKSIDASI TOLUENA (R-101)
Indonesia is one of the developing countries that has been actively involved in
development across various sectors, especially in the chemical industry. The
benzoic acid industry in Indonesia is one with promising prospects. Benzoic acid is
utilized as a preservative, flavor enhancer, additive, nucleating agent,
intermediary, and stabilizer or catalyst. The pre-design objective of this plant is to
fulfill domestic benzoic acid demands, save foreign exchange reserves, create
opportunities for other factories utilizing benzoic acid as raw material, and
generate new job opportunities to reduce unemployment rates. The plant proposed
location is in the industrial area of Cilacap Tengah District, Cilacap Regency,
Central Java Province, with a production capacity of 15,000 tons per year, utilizing
an oxidation reactor (R-101) as the primary equipment. Economic feasibility
analysis indicates that establishing a benzoic acid factory is viable, with a Payback
Period (PBP) of 3.828 years, Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.7322%, Return
on Investment (ROI) of 26.120%, and Break-Even Point (BEP) of 51.219%.
