PRARANCANGAN PABRIK METANOL DARI BATUBARA DENGAN DESAIN ALAT UTAMA KOLOM DISTILASI (T-301)
Methanol (methyl alcohol) is a chemical in the form of a clear, flammable liquid with
the molecular formula CH3OH. Methanol acts as an intermediate compound that
becomes the raw material for various industries. Coal gasification technology is used
to convert coal into syngas which is then processed into methanol. The main raw
materials used in methanol production are coal and oxygen. The selected process
used for methanol production from coal is lurgi technology. The plant will operate
for 330 days per year and work continuously for 24 hours/day with a capacity of
480,000 tons/year to be established in Tanjung Enim, South Sumatera. The form of
company applied is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff
organization system. The employee work system is based on the division of working
hours consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The main equipment design in this
plant is the Distillation Column (T-301) which functions to separate the methanolwater mixture with the remaining syngas. The distillation column (T-301) is operated
at a pressure of 1 bar with a temperature of 73.46oC. Economic analysis of the plant
shows that the plant is feasible to establish. With a Break Even Point (BEP) of 48%,
Payback Period (PBP) of 2.95 years, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 33.88%, and
Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.61%.
