PRARANCANGAN PABRIK ASAM ADIPAT DARI SIKLOHEKSANA PROSES OKSIDASI DENGAN DESAIN ALAT UTAMA REAKTOR OKSIDASI KA OIL (R-401)
Adipic acid is generally produced as a raw material for making nylon and fiber.
The purpose of establishing an adipic acid plant is to meet the domestic demand
for adipic acid so as to reduce the amount of imports. Adipic acid is produced
through Cyclohexane oxidation process and KA oil oxidation process. The
cyclohexane oxidation process takes place in a bubble reactor at 139°C and 3 atm
pressure which produces cyclohexanol-cyclohexanone or called KA oil. Then KA
oil is oxidized with nitric acid and produces adipic acid. The process takes place
in a CSTR reactor at 89°C and 3 atm pressure. Adipic acid as the main product is
crystallized in a crystallizer to change the phase of adipic acid from liquid to solid
or crystal. The adipic acid plant is planned to operate for 330 days per year and
work continuously for 24 hours/day. The adipic acid plant with a capacity of
52,000 tons/year will be established in Bekasi industrial area. The economic
analysis in this plant design shows the Break Event Point (BEP) value in the 5th
year with a production of 43.65%, Shut Down Point (SDP) of 22%, Pay Back
Period (PBP) for 3.255 years, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 21.858% and Interest
Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.76%. Based on the analysis of process and economic
conditions, the adipic acid plant is feasible and has good prospects.
