RINGKASAN EKSEKUTIF PRARANCANGAN PABRIK KATEKOL DARI FENOL PROSES HIDROKSILASI DENGAN DESAIN ALAT UTAMA REAKTOR HIDROKSILASI (R-101)
Indonesia, as a developing country, continues to experience growth in various
sectors, including the chemical industry. Catechol, as a vital component in the
chemical industry, draws special attention due to its significant market growth,
reaching USD 155.4 million by 2027. Dependence on catechol imports in Indonesia
reached 955,184 kg in 2021, as there are no catechol production plants
domestically. Catechol can be produced using phenol and hydrogen peroxide as
raw materials through a hydroxylation process, which provides high efficiency and
good yields. The aim of this plant design is to meet domestic catechol needs, save
foreign exchange, utilize local resources, and create new jobs to reduce
unemployment rates. The plant is planned to be located in the Cilegon Industrial
Area, Banten, with a production capacity of 10,000 tons/year, using a hydroxylation
reactor (R-101) as the main equipment. Establishing a catechol plant domestically
will not only reduce dependence on imports but also provide significant economic
benefits for Indonesia. Economic feasibility analysis shows that the catechol plant
is viable, with a Payback Period (PBP) of 2.35 years, an Internal Rate of Return
(IRR) of 22.739%, a Return on Investment (ROI) of 32.01%, and a Break-Even
Point (BEP) of 54%.
