PRARANCANGAN PABRIK ASAM BENZOAT DARI TOLUENA PROSES OKSIDASI DENGAN DESAIN ALAT UTAMA ROTARY DRUM VACUUM FILTER (F-101)
Toluena (toluol, methylbenzene, phenylmethane) is an organic solvent widely used
in many industrial processes including plastics production, chemical synthesis and
gasoline manufacturing. Toluena oxidation technology is used to convert toluena
into benzoic acid. The main raw materials used in the production of benzoic acid
are toluena and oxygen. The selected process used for the production of benzoic
acid from toluena is toluena oxidation. The established plant will operate for 350
days per year and work continuously for 24 hours / day with a capacity of 15,000
tons / year which will be established in Central Cilacap District, Cilacap Regency,
Central Java Province. The form of company applied is a Limited Liability
Company (PT) with a line and staff organization system. The employee work system
is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift and non-shift
employees. The main equipment design in this plant is a rotary drum vacuum filter
(F-101) which functions to separate the mixture of benzoic acid with toluena mother
liquor. This rotary drum vacuum filter (F-101) is operated at a pressure of 1 bar
with a temperature of 59.21oC. Economic analysis of the plant shows that the plant
is feasible to establish. With a Break Even Point (BEP) value of 51.219%, Payback
Period (PBP) of 3.828 years, Rate of Investment (ROI) of 26.120%, and Internal
Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.732%.
