APLIKASI ALGORITMA GENETIKA UNTUK PENJADWALAN PERKULIAHAN DI FAKULTAS TEKNIK UNIVERSITAS RIAU
Scheduling lectures is one of the complex and crucial tasks in an academic
environment, especially in ensuring that resources such as classrooms, time, and
teaching staff are optimally utilized. This research develops a web-based
application for scheduling lectures at the Faculty of Engineering, Riau University
using genetic algorithms. Genetic algorithm was chosen due to its ability to solve
complex optimization problems and able to produce efficient solutions in a
relatively short time. The results showed that the developed application successfully
produced a lecture schedule that did not clash and was in accordance with the
needs of the faculty. The implementation of genetic algorithm in this application
shows good performance in reducing the time required for the scheduling process
and increasing the efficiency of classroom usage. System trials show that this
website can produce an optimal schedule with an average execution time that is
faster than the manual method. Thus, genetic algorithms can develop lecture
schedules to manage lecture scheduling more effectively and efficiently.
