REPRESENTASI FEMINISME ISLAMDALAMFILMHATI SUHITA KARYA ARCHIE HEKAGERY
The growing patriarchal culture has encouraged many directors to make films
about the power of women and Islamic feminism. Through films, directors seek to challenge
unfair social norms and provide fairer and stronger representation for women in society.
Films not only function as a tool to educate audiences about gender issues, but also as a
medium to strengthen women's voices and rights in cultural and religious contexts. The
film Hati Suhita is a religious film which was released on May 25 2023. This film is
Indonesian films are very inspiring, especially for women. This film is based on the Best
Seller novel by Khilma Anis. This film tries to show a tough and strong female character
in the midst of her household storm. The film Hati Suhita also provides inspiration for
women to continue working. This film also shows dignified female characters. And what's
unique is that there is no antagonist in the film.
This research employs descriptive research of qualitative approach. The subject of
this study is the film "Hati Suhita", with the unit of analysis being scenes from the film
related to the formulated problem. Data collection involved observing the film "Hati
Suhita" and documenting scenes, analyzed using Roland Barthes' theory. The aim of this
study is to identify scenes depicting representations of Islamic Feminism in the film "Hati
Suhita". Semiotic theory by Roland Barthes is applied to analyze signs of Islamic Feminism
found in scenes and dialogues. The study identifies 9 scenes that represent Islamic
Feminism.
The results of this research show that the first 3 meanings of denotation are visible
in the scenes and dialogue that describe this. Then the connotative meaning is seen in
conversations and actions that depict Islamic Feminism, and the mythical meaning is seen
in people's views about Islamic Feminism which are displayed through certain scenes. It
can be concluded that the results of this research show that Islamic Feminism in the film
Hati Suhita represents women as individuals who are free to express opinions, work even
in public spaces, there is no limit to movement in positive terms and of course there is no
longer a mix between women and men. The film Hati Suhita also creates a different
perspective and adds new insight into Islamic feminism.
