KATA HARIMAU DALAMPERIBAHASA MELAYU: ANALISIS SEMANTIK INKUISITIF
This research discusses the meaning of the word tiger in Malay proverbs using inquisitive semantic analysis. The problem formulation in this research is what is the meaning of the word tiger in Malay proverbs and what are the domains of the word tiger in Malay proverbs. This research aims to describe the meaning of the word tiger in Malay proverbs and describe the domains contained in the word tiger in Malay proverbs. Every research certainly has benefits. The benefits of conducting this research are (1) theoretically, this research is expected to increase readers' knowledge about semantics, especially in the field of inquisitive semantics. Inquisitive semantic analysis of the word tiger in Malay proverbs can provide new insight into the meaning and use of this word in proverbs. (2) Practically, the results of this research provide deeper insight into the meaning and use of proverbs containing the word tiger in Malay . It is hoped that this research can be used as an additional reference regarding the meaning of proverbs, especially the reasons why this object was chosen to express a proverb. The data obtained in this research in the form of Malay proverbs with the object tiger were obtained from the Malay Literature Reference Center (PRPM) as a source containing various Malay proverbs which can be accessed via the link (https://prpm.dbp.gov.my/). The data collection technique used in this research is note-taking technique. The data in this research were analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques. The research instrument in this research is the researcher himself. The data analysis technique that the author uses is data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions.
Based on the research results, in this proverb with the main object being the tiger, the author found a relationship between the tiger and other objects which complement the meaning of this proverb. The meaning that the author finds in this proverb is the meaning of courage and power, the meaning of warning and danger, the meaning of effort and results, and the meaning of identity and good name. The domains that researchers found in Malay proverbs in this data were the domains of habit, satire, vain, and power.
