Upaya masyarakat Dalam mengatasi Pencurian Kelapa Sawit Di Desa Kota Medan Kecamatan Kelayang Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu
This research aims to explain the efforts of the community in addressing the theft of palm oil fruit and the challenges faced by the community. The study was conducted in Kota Medan Village, Kelayang District, Indragiri Hulu Regency. The background of this research is the increasing prevalence of palm oil theft, which has become a source of concern for the community. The theft of palm oil fruit is a serious issue that leads to economic losses for the community and poses a threat to their security. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, collecting data through in-depth interviews and non- participant observation. The informant selection technique was carried out using purposive sampling, involving five informants, including palm oil plantation owners, police as key informants, and village secretaries as additional informants. To explain this research, the theory used is Max Weber's social action theory. The results of this study indicate that the community has undertaken various efforts to combat theft, such as enhancing plantation security, forming security groups, establishing agreements with palm oil platform owners, and reporting incidents to the police. However, these efforts face challenges such as a lack of social control, low legal awareness among the community, protection for perpetrators by their families, limited resources, and weak law enforcement. It is hoped that local government authorities and police can collaborate with the community to enhance plantation security and raise legal awareness among perpetrators to prevent further disturbances and losses to the community.
