Kemampuan Menulis Pantun oleh Siswa Kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Kubu Babussalam
This research examines the level of pantun writing ability in class VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Kubu Babussalam, with a focus on four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Rhyme writing skills are considered crucial in
effective communication. The aim of the research is to describe students' rhyme writing abilities using quantitative methods with a rhyme writing test instrument, which refers to the riddle rhyme theme. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Kubu Babussalam, Rokan Hilir, using descriptive statistical techniques in the form of frequency distribution and average central tendency. The research results showed that the average ability of students to write rhymes was 83.29 in the high category. This value is obtained from a total score of 4498 divided by a sample size of 54. Based on category, 4 students (7%) are in the low category, 18 students (33%) are in the medium category, 27 students (50%) are in the high category, and 5 students (9% ) very high category. For the requirements for writing pantun, there are 87% of students in the medium category and 13% in the very high category. In terms of appropriateness of the content of the pantun, 39% of students were in the medium category, while 61% were in the very high category. Research recommends that students maintain and develop pantun writing skills, and advises Indonesian language teachers to study diction selection material. The results show that students' diction choices are still in the medium category with an average score of 68.14. It is hoped that this research will become a reference for innovation in learning to write pantun in the future, in order to overcome the weaknesses found.
