Prarancangan Pabrik Metilamina Proses Kvaerner Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Absorbsi Dimetilamina (T-106)
ABSTRACT
Methylamine is a chemical compound widely used in the pharmaceutical, pesticide, and other chemical industries. This production process involves the reaction between methanol and ammonia with the aid of a catalyst to produce monomethylamine, dimethylamine, and trimethylamine. One of the main components in this plant is the dimethylamine absorption column (T-106). This column functions to separate dimethylamine from the reaction gas mixture. The design of this absorption column is based on operating parameters such as pressure, temperature, and gas flow rate, as well as mass and energy balance calculations. The absorption column design includes the selection of construction materials, column dimensions, and the number and type of trays or packing used. The preliminary design results indicate that the T-106 absorption column can operate efficiently under the specified operating conditions. The Kvaerner process was chosen for its high efficiency and ability to produce products with high purity. The economic feasibility analysis shows that the methylamine plant is viable, with a Payback Period (PBP) of 2.6 years, an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 22.7359%, a Return on Investment (ROI) of 31.13%, and a Break-Even Point (BEP) of 50%.
