Prarancangan Pabrik Methyl Tert-Butil Eter(Mtbe) Proses Phillips Star Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Adsorbsi (Ad-101)
ABSTRACT
This study aims to design a Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE) plant using the
Phillips STAR process with the design of the main tool of adsorbation column (AD-
101). MTBE is used as a fuel additive to increase the octane number, reduce
pollutant emissions, and improve engine performance. The factory is planned to be
located in Bukit Batu District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau, under the name PT. Diesa
Chemical, and has a production capacity of 100,000 tons per year. The
establishment of this factory supports economic growth and sustainable
industrialization in Indonesia. The plant design includes raw material preparation,
esterification reaction process, separation, purification, as well as the use of AD-
101 adsorbation columns to purify methanol from mixed gases. Economic analysis
shows the feasibility of the project with an NPV of IDR 534,258,210,624, a TCI of
IDR 125,049,056,869, an IRR of 22,73%, an ROI of 20,33%, and a BEP of 11%,
exceeding Bank BRI's RRR of 22,55%. The conclusion of this study confirms that
the establishment of an MTBE plant of 100,000 tons per year in Bukit Batu District,
Bengkalis Regency, Riau, is feasible to be implemented technically and
economically, supports the domestic needs of MTBE, and has the potential to
provide significant economic benefits for Indonesia.
