Pengetahuan Dampak Mikroplastik Terhadap Lingkungan Dan Potensi Kesehatan Masyarakat Di Desa Buluhcina
Microplastics are plastic particles with a diameter of less than 5 mm, resulting from the degradation of plastics due to physical (temperature, light, mechanical), chemical (oxidation and hydrolysis), and biological (microorganisms) factors. The very small size of microplastics allows them to spread easily in the air, water, and surrounding land, negatively impacting the environment and the individuals within it. Knowledge is the human effort to seek truth or address a problem faced. To address the issue of microplastics, it is essential to have public awareness about the presence of microplastic contamination and its effects. This study aims to understand the level of knowledge regarding the impact of microplastics on the riverbank environment, river biota, and potential health risks to the community in Buluhcina Village. This research is a descriptive observational study with the distribution of questionnaires to housewives in Buluhcina Village. The analysis results are presented in tables and narratives. The majority of respondents' ages were late adults, with 36 respondents (32.73%). The majority of respondents' last education was elementary school, with 41 respondents (37.27%). The majority of respondents were unemployed/ housewives, with 101 respondents (91.82%). The majority of respondents had moderate knowledge, both regarding the environmental impacts of microplastics and the potential health risks to the community in total (59.09%), knowledge of microplastic impacts on the riverbank environment (57.27%), knowledge of microplastic impacts on aquatic biota (59.09%), and knowledge of the potential health risks of microplastics to the community (41.82%).
