The loading and unloading of goods at the port does not always run smoothly due to obstacles that may occur during the loading and unloading process. One of the consequences of these obstacles is damage to goods being loaded and unloaded. PT. Pelindo is a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) which has the task of operating and managing ports throughout Indonesia and also has the main task of providing and managing port services. The formulation of the problem in this research is What are the responsibilities of PT. Pelindo Multi Terminal regarding damage to service users' goods during container loading and unloading activities at Dumai Port; What is the solution for resolving compensation for damage to service users' goods during loading and unloading activities at Dumai Port. The aim of the research is to determine the responsibility and solution for resolving compensation for damage to goods in the implementation of loading and unloading activities at Dumai Port by PT. Pelindo Multi Terminal Branch Dumai.
This research method uses a descriptive method, namely clearly describing the responsibilities of PT. Pelindo Multi Terminal regarding damage to service users' goods during loading and unloading activities at Dumai Port. Data collection techniques used interviews and literature, with qualitative data analysis. The results of the research can be concluded that, the responsibility of PT. Pelindo Multi Terminal Branch Dumai for damage to goods during loading and unloading activities with limits of responsibility for carrying out loading and unloading, namely the company is only responsible for the safety of goods in the loading and unloading process from stevedoring, cargodoring and receiving/delivery activities; Settlement of compensation for damage to goods during loading and unloading activities will be resolved by the service user submitting a compensation claim along with supporting documents to the insurance
company that the company collaborates with to be compensated for their losses.
