Kepribadian Tokoh Dalam Film Selesai Karya Tompi
This study aims to analyze the personalities of the characters in the film
Selesai by Tompi through the lens of Sigmund Freud's psychological theory. The film highlights domestic conflicts, particularly issues of infidelity, and their impact on the characters' personalities. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research focuses on personality structures (id, ego, superego), factors influencing personality, and the psychological effects experienced by the characters in the story. Data sources are derived from dialogues, narratives, and scenes in the film, which are then deeply analyzed to reveal the dynamics of each character's personality.
The findings show that the personalities of the characters in Selesai are
influenced by two main factors: historical and contemporary factors. Historical factors include past traumatic experiences, such as betrayal, dishonesty, and recurring infidelity, which shape the characters' current behavior. Meanwhile, contemporary factors relate to the influence of the social environment and interactions with those around the characters, which also affect their psychological state. The characters' personality structures are explained based on Freud's theory, which consists of the id, ego, and superego.
The id reflects emotional drives and deep desires, such as the need for love and feelings of anger. The ego functions as a balancer, attempting to reconcile the id's impulses with reality, for instance, when the characters try to make rational decisions amidst conflict. Meanwhile, the superego acts as a moral regulator, pushing the characters to act according to values considered correct, often conflicting with personal desires.
Additionally, this research reveals that the internal conflicts faced by the
characters result in significant psychological effects. These effects include hallucinations, delusions, trauma, fear, and distrust. For example, Ayu experiences emotional trauma due to her husband Broto's repeated infidelity. Although Ayu strives to endure for the sake of maintaining her relationship with her in-laws, she ultimately chooses to let go because she can no longer bear the pain. Another character, Yani, faces similar issues; she feels betrayed by her partner Bambang, which greatly affects her trust in others.
This study concludes that the film Selesai not only portrays domestic conflicts but also provides profound reflections on the complex dynamics of human life. The personality structure, comprising the id, ego, and superego, plays a crucial role in shaping the characters' behavior, reflecting their internal and external struggles. The film also serves as an effective medium for representing relevant social issues, such as infidelity and dishonesty, which frequently occur in domestic life.
