Efek Kitin Dan Turunannya Dalam Menghambat Pertumbuhan Ganoderma Sp. Penyebab Penyakit Busuk Pangkal Batang Kelapa Sawit Secara In Vitro
Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a plantation crop that is widely cultivated in Indonesia, including in Riau Province. The decline in oil palm productivity in Riau can be caused by diseases such as basal stem rot (BPB) caused by Ganoderma sp. The study aims to test the ability of chitin and its derivatives to inhibit the growth of Ganoderma sp. and to determine its effect on the morphology of fungi that cause BPB in vitro. The study was conducted by observation and experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of4 treatmentsand 6 replications, so that 24 experimental units were obtained. The treatments used were without chitin, chitosan and chitosan nanoparticles (K0), chitin (K1), chitosan (K2) and chitosan nanoparticles (K3). The parameters observed were the diameter of the Ganoderma sp. fungal colony, barrier resistance and resistance of its derivatives to Ganoderma sp., macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of Ganoderma sp. after administration of chitin and its derivatives, and the length and width of the conidia of Ganoderma sp. fungi. Thedata obtained wereanalyzed descriptively and statistically with analysis of variance and then further tested with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. Administration of chitin, chitosan and nanoparticles inhibited the growth of Ganoderma sp. with inhibitory strengths of 13.88%, 22.68%, 29.71% respectively.
Keywords: chitin, chitosan, chitosan nanoparticles, Ganoderma sp.
