Dominasi Patriarki Dalam Organisasi Mahasiswa Di Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Riau

Patriarchy is a social system that places men as the dominant party in various aspects of life, including in student organizations. At the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Riau (FISIP UNRI), although women dominate the number of members, strategic positions in student organizations are still dominated by men. This study aims to examine the factors that influence gender inequality in student organization leadership at FISIP UNRI. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results of the study indicate that although there are no formal rules that limit women from leading, the organizational culture that is eliminated on gender stereotypes and patriarchal social norms is more dominant in the leadership selection process. Supporting and inhibiting factors for women to advance in leadership include social support and leadership training, but the main obstacle comes from the perception of women's leadership which is considered less assertive or rational. Patriarchal power operates not only in formal structures but also in accepted and internalized social norms, which limit women's space for movement in student organizations.
