Pengaruh Penambahan Surfaktan Pada Ekstrak Akar Tuba (Derris Elliptica Benth) Terhadap Mortalitas Ulat Grayak Jagung (Spodoptera Frugiperda J. E. Smith)
The extract of tuba root isa plant-based insecticide that can be used to control pests. The active ingredient in tuba root extract is sensitive to sunlight, which can reduce its effectiveness. An alternative solution to this issue is the addition of surfactants. This study aims to determine the effective concentration of surfactant added to tuba root extract against the mortality of armyworms on corn plants. The research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of six treatments and four replications, resulting in 24 experimental units. Each experimental unit contained 10 third-instar larvae. The treatments involved concentrations of surfactant at 0%, 0,01%, 0,02%, 0,03%, 0,04%, and 0,05% added to the tuba root extract. The observed parameters included the time of initial death, lethal time 50 (LT50), lethal concentration 50 and 95 (LC50 and LC95), daily mortality, total mortality, and attack intensity. The results indicated that a concentration of 0.05% surfactant in tuba root extract led to a mortality rate of 75%, with an initial death time of 65.25 hours and an LT50 of 96.75 hours, as well as an attack intensity of 59.50% after application. However, this concentration was not considered effective as it did not achieve a mortality rate of 80% or higher.
