Pengembangan Modul Ajar Membaca Teks Hikayat Hang Tuah Menggunakan Pendekatan Pragmatis Berbasus Kearifan Lokal Melayu Kelas X SMA
This thesis, entitled Development of a Teaching Module for Reading the Hikayat Hang Tuah Text Using a Pragmatic Approach Based on Local Malay Wisdom for Class X SMA, was conducted to address the identified needs of students, as revealed through needs analysis, teacher interviews, and a review of existing teaching materials. The research highlighted that existing materials were predominantly oriented toward general theory, with limited integration of practical applications and local wisdom.
The primary objective of this research was to develop a teaching module employing a pragmatic approach that incorporates the characteristics of local Malay wisdom, as reflected in the syntax of the module. The study utilized the Research and Development (R&D) methodology, adopting the 4D model encompassing the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate.
The research findings demonstrate that the teaching materials developed using a pragmatic approach effectively enhanced students’ skills in reading Hikayat texts. Significant improvements were observed in students' abilities to comprehend, analyze, interpret, and appreciate the Hikayat Hang Tuah text. The learning process became more focused and analytical, while the teaching materials also successfully fostered greater student interest in classical Malay literary texts, particularly Hikayat.
In conclusion, the development of this teaching module represents an innovative contribution to the teaching of classical Malay literary texts, particularly Hikayat. The pragmatic approach, combined with local wisdom, proved to be highly effective in stimulating student interest and engagement. This research makes a meaningful contribution to the advancement of literature-based learning at the high school level and underscores the importance of involving literary experts in the development process. Further studies are recommended to explore new strategies for teaching Hikayat texts.
