Being a security guard is not an easy job. The job of a security guard is generally performed by men, but as times have changed, women have also started taking on this role because the presence of women is increasingly needed due to the frequent occurrence of violence or harassment against women. The purpose of this research is to understand the rational choices of women in choosing to work as security guards and the obstacles they face while working as security guards. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative research method with purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this research are women who work as Security Personnel, totaling 5 individuals. Data analysis uses the rational choice theory by James Coleman. The results of this study show 1) they choose to work as security guards because there are job openings for female security guards, and they want to help the family's economy as well as their interest in working in the service and security fields. 2) the obstacles faced by women when working as security guards include their directions or opinions being undervalued in certain situations by the community they serve and the adaptation to male-dominated coworkers. On the other hand, the profession of security guard is still viewed as a job that emphasizes physical strength. This perception makes women have to prove that they are capable of performing their duties well, often exceeding expectations.
