Implementasi Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) Untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Dan Motivasi Belajar Matematika Siswa Kelas IV Sekolah Dasar
This study aims to improve the learning outcomes and motivation of fourth-grade elementary school students in mathematics. PMRI was chosen as the teaching approach because it emphasizes the connection between mathematical concepts and everyday life, making abstract concepts easier for students to understand. The research employed a classroom action research (CAR) method, consisting of two cycles. Each cycle involved planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The success indicators included an improvement in students' learning outcomes, with a target of 75% of students achieving the Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC), and an increase in learning motivation based on observation and questionnaire criteria.
Pre-research findings indicated low student learning outcomes, with only 48% of students achieving mastery, and student motivation categorized as "moderate" at 62.97%. In Cycle 1, PMRI-based learning increased the mastery level to 63%, but it still fell short of the 75% target. Several obstacles, such as students' limited understanding of the PMRI method and low self-confidence, hindered progress. Improvements were made in Cycle 2, resulting in a significant increase in mastery to 81%, exceeding the target. Students' motivation also improved, reaching the categories of "good" and "very good" with a percentage of 75%. The results demonstrate that the implementation of PMRI successfully enhanced students' understanding of mathematical concepts and encouraged active student engagement in the learning process. Student motivation increased through activities relevant to real-life contexts, such as the use of concrete examples, group discussions, and reflections. This study concludes that the PMRI approach is effective for teaching mathematics in fourth-grade elementary school classes to improve both learning outcomes and motivation. It supports the adoption of student-centered and real-world-context-based learning strategies in elementary education.
