Hubungan Patron Klien Antara Toke Dengan Petani Sagu Di Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi Barat Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti
The sago production center in Indonesia is in Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province. The sago plant is a leading commodity in the region. The objectives of this study were to: identify sago marketing institutions and channels, analyze the form of patron-client socioeconomic relationships between toke and sago farmers, and analyze the factors that influence patron-client relationships between toke and sago farmers in Tebing Tinggi Barat District, Meranti Islands Regency. This research used observation techniques and in-depth interviews with informants to collect primary data. Informants were selected using the snowball sampling technique. The secondary data was collected through documentation studies by studying several books, journals, articles, and reports from relevant agencies. Data analysis used a qualitative descriptive analysis method. The results showed that the sago marketing channel consisted of two channels, namely: Channel I (farmers sell tual sago directly to toke) and Channel II (farmers sell tual sago through collecting traders then collecting traders channel to toke). The form of patron-client socio-economic relationship between toke and sago farmers in Tebing Tinggi Barat District, Meranti Islands Regency is in the form of buying and selling relationships and social relationships. Several factors influence the patron-client relationship between toke and sago farmers, namely: a sense of kinship, mutual trust, economic factors, and remuneration.
