Perilaku Harian Siamang (Symphalangus syndactylus) di Kawasan Wisata Taman Kera Aek Nauli Sumatera Utara
Siamang is an endemic primate to this island of Sumatra, which is threatened with extinction. According to the IUCN, siamang is included in the red list with the endangered category and is classified as Appendix I CITES. The presence of siamang in forest ecosystems has an important role in helping the seed dispersal process. Efforts to maintain the sustainability of siamang populations in natural habitats require thorough in-situ conservation. The purpose of this research is to describe the daily behavior and duration of daily behavior of siamangs in KWTK Aek Nauli and to determine differences in the percentage of daily behavior of siamangs between two observation periods. This research was conducted in December 2023 - January 2024. The research focused on four individual siamang using focal animal sampling and ad libitum sampling methods. Based on research results, the siamang daily behaviors consist of moving, resting, feeding, vocalizing, grooming, defecation, and other behaviors. The total duration was 11.520 minutes. In the morning observation period, moving behavior was dominant, while in the afternoon observation period, resting behavior was dominant. The highest percentage daily behavior of siamang from all observations was resting behavior, which is 36.20%.
Key words: Daily Behavior, In-situ conservation, Siamang.
