EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Rancangan Pabrik LLDPE Proses SCLAIRTECH Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Distilasi Etilena (T-301)
ABSTRACT
Polyethylene is classified as a fundamental industrial product in the polymer industry as it has the highest production volume worldwide. LLDPE is a linear polymer with many short branches processed by copolymerization of ethylene with short-chain α-olefins in the form of 1-octene using a Ziegler-Natta catalyst and cyclohexane solvent. The level of plastic production in Indonesia, which continues to increase every year, is not in line with the production of plastic raw materials that are not sufficent for market demand, so there is a great opportunity for Indonesia to become a polyethylene producer, especially LLDPE. The LLDPE plant is planned to be established in Pulomerak District, Cilegon City, Banten Province in 2024 with a production capacity of 259,000 tons/year.
The Sclairtech technology LLDPE production process has several advantages, namely it has the shortest residence time, has no record of industrial accidents in more than 90 years of operation, can increase production capacity by 50% of the initial capacity at low cost, and uses a double reactor configuration that can produce LLDPE with 99% purity and a density of 0.915-0.925 g/cm3. The power requirements of the LLDPE plant are supplied by a generator driven by a Combined Cycle Generating Unit (CCGU) system with a total power requirement of 13.000 kW/hr. The water source used in the design of the LLDPE plant comes from seawater around Merak Beach, Cilegon, Banten with a total water demand of 1.009.454 kg/hour. Liquid waste is generated in the industry in the form of catalyst residues, while other liquid waste sources are obtained from laboratory waste and domestic waste with a total waste flow of 1,811.57 kg/hour. The process control of the LLDPE plant uses instrumentation in the form of sensors, indicators, controllers, recorders and plant safety devices such as alarms.
The calculation results of PBP value obtained 3.21 years, IRR value obtained 31.35%, BEP obtained 31.04% and NPV obtained 4.14 trillion rupiah. Based on the economic feasibility analysis conducted, it shows that the LLDPE plant is feasible to establish. The sensitivity analysis results show that NPV has the highest sensitivity to changes in raw material prices and product prices compared to other parameters. IRR has the lowest productivity to changes in raw material prices and BEP has the lowest productivity to changes in product prices compared to other parameters.
