Analisis Abrasi Pantai Dan Degradasi Hutan Mangrove Pulau Bengkalis Menggunakan Google Earth Engine

ABSTRACT
Mangrove forests are vital ecosystems that protect coastlines from erosion and support biodiversity. However, damage caused by human activities and natural phenomena has led to the degradation of these ecosystems. This study aims to analyze the changes in the coastline and mangrove forest degradation in Pulau Bengkalis spatially and temporally during the period 1994-2024. This analysis uses the research method of multi-temporal satellite image data from Landsat 5 TM and Landsat 8 OLI, which is processed through Google Earth Engine. The results of the analysis show a significant decrease in the area of mangrove forest density and changes in the coastline from 1994 to 2024. The correlation results between the area of mangrove forest density and the rate of abrasion show a strong relationship, where the decrease in the area of mangrove forest density is positively correlated with the increase in the rate of abrasion. The area of mangrove forest density increased from 6,160.5 ha in 2022 to 7,980.3 ha in 2024, with a decrease in the rate of abrasion of 272.36 ha in 2022 and 159.81 ha in 2024. This indicates that mangrove forests play an important role in protecting the coastline from abrasion. This study concludes that mangrove forest degradation is one of the main factors causing changes in the coastline in Pulau Bengkalis. Therefore, efforts to conserve and rehabilitate mangrove forests need to be increased to maintain the sustainability of coastal ecosystems and protect communities from the negative impacts of climate change.
