Analisis Cadangan Karbon Pada Tanaman Kelapa Sawit Di Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit Pt X
ABSTRACT
Greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere are increasing due to improper land management such as burning forest vegetation and converting forests into agricultural land, resulting in environmental damage, changes in carbon stocks and climate change. One way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air quality is to maintain forest integrity and increase tree populations outside forest areas. Oil palm stores CO2 during its life cycle for photosynthesis, where the results are stored as carbon reserves in biomass. The purpose of this study was to analyze and map the distribution of biomass and carbon reserves stored in oil palm based on planting age on peatlands in PT X's oil palm plantation. This study was conducted from July to August 2024 at the PT X Oil Palm Plantation, Sungai Pagar, Kampar Kiri Hilir District, Kampar Regency, Riau. Carbon stock data collection was carried out on oil palm plants, undergrowth and peat soil. The calculation results show that the total carbon reserves in the 21-year planting age group are 1.317,46 tons/ha, the 25-year planting age is 1.486,29 tons/ha, and the 29-year planting age is 1.598,88 tons/ha. Meanwhile, the total carbon reserves stored in PT X's oil palm plantation are 551.480 tons.
