EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Rancangan Pabrik H2SO4 Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Fixed Bed Berbasis Contact Process (R-101)
ABSTRACT
Sulfuric acid is the most widely used chemical product that has earned the nickname the life blood of industry. Sulfuric acid is much needed by the chemical industries, including the fertilizer industry (used for the manufacture of super phosphate and ammonium sulfate), petroleum processing, pharmaceuticals, paper and pulp, plastics, batteries, explosives, paints and pigments, and others. Sulfuric acid import demand from abroad shows an average import growth of 2,97% per year. The need for sulfuric acid in Indonesia is still met by imports so that the construction of a sulfuric acid plant in Indonesia has the potential to be a profitable investment to meet market demand.
The location of the sulfuric acid plant is planned in Bedanten Village, Bungah Subdistrict, Gresik Regency, East Java Province, Indonesia. With a planned production capacity of 280,000 tonnes/year, the establishment of a sulfuric acid plant is expected to meet domestic sulfuric acid needs and reduce import dependence. The sulfuric acid plant requires a utility system in the form of water demand of 6328.81 kg/hour, steam of 4249.23 kg/hour, and power of 141.46 kW/hour. Water utility needs are obtained from the Bengawan Solo river. Processing of factory waste in the form of gas is processed using a flare system.
The results of economic analysis with total capital investment (TCI) of Rp1,614,952,708,252.37 and total product cost (TPC) of Rp1,176,621,177,347.20. Revenue from sales of sulfuric acid products amounted to Rp1,912,459,105,125.12/year. From the profitability analysis, a net present value (NPV) of Rp2,299,111,468,369.15 was obtained with a discount rate of 18%, an internal rate of return (IRR) of 28.54%, a breakeven point (BEP) occurred at a production capacity of 50.60%, and a payback period (PBP) of 2.73 years. The profitability analysis results show that the sulfuric acid plant is feasible to establish and is a profitable investment.
