Studi Kelaikan Fungsi Sistem Kelistrikan Pada Gedung C Fakultas Teknik Universitas Riau
ABSTRACT
The reliability of the electrical system is crucial for the operation of a building and must comply with PUIL 2011 and the Building Function Feasibility Standard (SLF). Building C of the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Riau has been in operation for over 20 years without a comprehensive evaluation of its electrical system. This study aims to assess the feasibility of the electrical system and provide recommendations for improvements in accordance with electrical safety standards through field inspections, technical measurements, and comparative analysis based on PUIL and SNI standards. The findings indicate that the lightning protection system does not meet safety standards as it lacks conductors and grounding, making the building highly vulnerable to lightning strikes. In the electrical installation, grounding resistance was found to be excessively high, reaching up to 1000 ohms in some areas, far exceeding the ≤5 ohms limit set by PER.02/MEN/1989. Additionally, electrical panels were covered in dust, posing risks of short circuits and operational disruptions. Based on the evaluation, reinstallation of conductors and grounding electrodes in the lightning protection system is necessary, along with regular resistance measurements to ensure its effectiveness. For the electrical installation, improving the grounding system by adding electrodes and installing busbar grounding is a primary recommendation. Furthermore, regular inspections are essential to maintain safety and ensure compliance with standards. With these improvements, the electrical system in Building C is expected to be more reliable, efficient, and safe from disturbances and fire hazards
