Pengaruh Lime Mud Dryness Terhadap Konsumsi Energi Di Lime Kiln Plant
ABSTRACT
Recausticizing is a process of chemical recovery plant that is tasked with converting green liquor into white liquor as the main product and lime mud as a by-product. Lime mud is one of the by-products of recycling in the pulp industry process produced from the recausticizing process which has a high CaCO3 content so that it can be used as the main material for the calcination process in the lime kiln. Lime mud to be calcined must pay attention to quality parameters, namely lime mud dryness to produce good burn lime quality and the energy consumption required. This study aims to determine the effect of lime mud dryness on energy consumption in the lime kiln plant. Lime mud dryness is an indication of the water content in the lime mud. Lime mud dryness is influenced by several factors, namely the content of Non-process elements (NPE) and Water soluble alkali (WSA) in lime mud which affect the production process in the lime kiln, thereby increasing energy consumption and operational costs significantly. To achieve the research objectives, the data collection method was carried out starting from November 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025, then the data was analyzed to determine the graph of the effect of NPE on lime mud dryness and the effect of lime mud dryness on energy consumption. So from the data analyzed it can be concluded that the increasing Non-process element and Water soluble alkali, the dryness of lime mud will decrease so that it requires more energy for the calcination process and vice versa, the lower the Non-process element and Water soluble alkali, the dryness of lime mud will increase and reduce energy consumption.
Key words : Energy consumption, Lime mud dryness , Non process element, Water soluble alkali.
